Senate adds two to exec board

Student Senate made two allocations at this week’s Student Senate meeting.

Senate allocated $500 for homecoming royalty materials, and $56 to buy senator folders. Ashley Swanson, treasurer, then said there is $18,738 in unallocated funds.

Bahensky suggested a change to the by-laws that states any expenditure less than or equal to $100 needs only the prior approval of Senate Executive Board. Currently the by-law says $50 or less.

In other business, Bryant Pritchett and Darren Burrows came to speak to Student Senate about placing speakers in the Red Room. T.J. Thomson, vice president, said that at least one event is hosted in the Red Room every week, and as it is used so often, speakers would be a good addition. Pritchett said that currently the only way to play any music is the television in the room, making it a very cold environment.

“We want to make it more inviting,” Pritchett said.

The Senate voted to table the discussion, but support the project.

Swanson said that Jake Almanrode, Gavan Archibald, Hannah Clark, Nakaya Fester, Paul McGowan, Willis Miller, and T.J. Thomson were selected for the 2012-13 Senate Finance Committee.

Faye Wefso was elected Senate Parliamentarian, and Reba Jackson was voted Corresponding Secretary.
