German flair returns to CSC

German-themed food and flair are returning to rural Nebraska Oct. 19 with this year’s Oktoberfest celebration.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Student Center’s ballroom, features a combination of traditional German staples such as bratwurst and sauerkraut, as well as polka music.

Oktoberfest aims to bring students and community members together through a unique cultural experience, Bob Knight, assistant professor of Social and Communication Arts, said Friday.

“It’s a campus and community event,” Knight said.

CSC’s Public Relations and Social Science Clubs teamed up to host the event, a collaboration that positively influences those involved, Knight said.

“It made sense for the Public Relations club and us to work together on this,” he said. “It worked out very successfully last year.”

Event organizers are predicting a similar turnout to last year’s event, Public Relations Club President Tiffany Valandra, 29, sophomore of Hardin, Mont., said Friday.

“200 plus [attendees] would be nice,” Valandra said. “That’s what we’re aiming for.”

Tickets are $5 for CSC students and children under 14, and $10 for everyone else.
