Lady Eagles get stung by ‘Jackets

On a crisp November afternoon, the Lady Eagle basketball team hosted Montana State University-Billings. The Yellowjackets took the win 79-64 when multiple people on the team scored in the double-digits.
Top scorer for the Yellowjackets was Bobbi Knudsen who scored 30 points and also had six assists. Most of her points came from the field when she went 12 for 15. On defense, she was aggressive and stole the ball four times, and had three rebounds. Another big contributor was Janiel Olson with 12 points and 10 rebounds. This win was the first of the season for the Yellowjackets.
Junior guard of Rapid City, S.D., Kattie Ranta led CSC with 22 points, her highest of the season so far. She had eight rebounds as well, and teammate Dallas Shaw, sophomore guard of Buffalo, Wyo., had 17 points and eight rebounds.
The score at halftime was 36-26, and then points off of turnovers gave the Yellowjackets their lead. MSUB scored 16 points off of turnovers compared to the six the Eagles were able to capture. In the second half, MSUB had 12 more off of turnovers as well.
Another proving factor of the game was the free throw percentage. Chadron actually shot better than MSUB from the field, 47 percent instead of 41 percent, but the Yellowjackets were able to convert more free throws, making 19 out of 22. Chadron only made four of six
The Lady Eagles travel to Denver for a duo of games. They play Colorado Christian University on Friday and Lubbock Christian University on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
