Music Department planning end-of-year concerts
With the year quickly coming to a close, the music department is seeing a busy time, ushering in the end of the year with several different concerts.
Chadron’s Community Symphonic Band as well as Chadron State College’s Wind Symphony will be performing a concert tonight. The groups are both under the direction of Sidney Schuler, visiting assistant professor of music.
The Community Symphonic Band will be performing pieces that center on America. The mixture includes everything from American sailing songs to Cajun folk songs.
The Wind Symphony, made up of 43 CSC students, will be performing wind symphony standards, from marches to jazz.
The concert will culminate in a final piece combining both bands.
The concert will be 7:30 tonight in Memorial Hall and is free to the public.
Meanwhile, the vocal ensemble is planning to start off the holiday season with a Christmas concert. The vocal ensemble, directed by Joel Scheuder, professor of music, will present their Holiday concert on Tuesday.
Both the vocal ensemble and the CSC Birds will perform Christmas tunes that of every variety, from a big band feel, to an 80s rock feel.
The vocal ensemble’s concert will be 7:30, Tuesday in Memorial Hall. The concert is also free to the public.
