Senate, CAB allocates $6.8k for big events

Senate’s Monday meeting began with discussion of this year’s Release show.

Karl McFarlane, junior of Montego Bay, Jamaica, Release coordinator asked senate to allocate $2,500 for Release. McFarlane said travel expenses and fees for technicians have increased prices. However, McFarlane added they are looking for people who would be willing to volunteer to help save money.

senate-newKay’Vion from New York, Slam Nuba, and Marty Lastovica from St. Louis are a few performers coming for Release. McFarlane, under the stage name “Karl Minor,” will also perform, along with CSC students, the CSC Cheer Team, and Miss Nebraska. They take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sat.

Morgan Nelson, student trustee, announced the new student trustee, Danny Reynaga. Reynaga will be accompanying Nelson to familiarize himself with the meetings. Nelson’s term ends May 1.

Nelson also gave the update from the Institutional Review Board. Senate is recommended to use the IRB because they can cover any potential problems that arise while surveying students. It was also recommended to use the form as a questionnaire and make sure to specify it is voluntary for students.

Jon Lordino, constitutional court member, said that the total cost of improper parking and ticket cost in Chadron was around $60. By keeping the fee at $20 for students on campus, there may not be real punishment. Laure Sinn, coordinator of student activities, added that some people just don’t care and do not read the parking information brochure.

Sinn reminded senators about the Big Event sign-up. The table will be set up in the Student Center from now until April 4 and students can sign up from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. or from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

CAB President, Dani Buckley, noted on Tuesday’s meeting that nominations for new CAB officers would be April 2. By April 28 the new officers chosen will run the CAB meeting.

The inauguration of the college’s 11th President, Randy Rhine, will be 3 p.m. April 26 in Memorial Hall,  reservations are required. There will be a pre-inauguration BBQ, free to students and faculty, April 25.

Shellie Johns, CAB advisor, told CAB members about the Keith Anderson concert April 25. The concert will be in the Nelson Physical Activities Center and is free to students while tickets last. The tickets must be reserved ahead of time and will not be available the day of. There are only 3,000 tickets and the concert will be advertised in surrounding states. Students can call the Box Office to reserve their tickets now.
