Chadron State College will be renovating all the dorms on campus this summer, and High Rise will receive a complete elevator overhaul, an administrator said.

“The only thing that will be left of the current elevator will be the cab floor. The rest will be a completely new system,” Blair Brennan, physical facilities coordinator, said Monday.

The cost of the elevator renovations will be approximately $449,000, and will be paid from revenue bonds that student fees fund. High Rise will also have the showers rebuilt on the 11th floor, which will cost about $100,000. Kent, Andrews, and both Edna Hall and Wing will have roof repairs, Brennan said. Half of the Student Center will also have the roof worked on. The cost for this project is still unknown. All of these projects will take place after the students leave for summer break, and should be completed by August, Brennan said. Student housing will not be affected by the renovations.
