There is a youth movement swinging across the Chadron State golf team, as this season opens.

Coach Terri Connealy said she is looking at a trio of sophomores to lead the Eagles on the fairways.

“We have a young group for sure this year,” Connealy said. “But our three returning sophomores have good experience. All three were in top five from our team last year.”

Those sophomores are Schuyler Wetzel of Hot Springs, S.D., Elysha Stahla of Moorcroft, Wyo., and Emma Harris of Wahoo.

“Both Emma and Schuyler can be in the one or two position for us this year,” Connealy said. “So with these two leading the way, I hope to see the team do well this season.”

Joining the sophomores are freshmen Danielle Brennan of Ellsworth and Mikayla Gallagher of Lead, S.D.

“These freshmen are pretty good and they can help us a lot this season,” Connealy said.

This season, the golf team plays nine tournaments – four in the fall, five in the spring, including the national tournament. The Eagles’ season tees off Sept. 6-7 at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
