Fire department alerted after steam valve pops

Fire officials arrived at Armstrong at around 5:30 p.m., Friday after the fire alarms sounded.

A pressure release valve on a steam line popped, filling the basement of Armstrong with steam, Pat Gould, fire chief said Monday—no actual fire occurred.

Gould said there was no one in the building at the time except campus security, who unlocked the building so firefighters could access the basement.
