Eagles to head south with eyes on conference championships

Nine men and nine women from the CSC Cross Country team left yesterday to prepare for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship in Silver City, N.M, Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
Assistant Track and Field Coach Brian Medigovich spoke about how the team prepares for the big meet.
“Their training is a lot of the same stuff they have been doing,” he said. “They start with a lot of basic work in the beginning and they get more intense as the season goes on so they can peak by the time the RMAC Championship gets here.”
To keep the pace, he said they need to train and focus.
“They need to remember all their habits and get a lot of sleep,” he said. “They also need to know they are getting to the end of the wire.”
Out of the 18 men and women going, this will be the last race of the season for four of them.
“They can run better and are capable of more,” Medigovich said. “They have done better than last year, but I do not think they have raced to their full potential yet.”
He also said the quality of running for the RMAC will be just as good or better than what the teams have seen so far since it is less people.
