Cross country teams head to Texas for NCAA D-II qualifiers

The men’s and women’s cross country  teams travel this weekend to Canyon, Texas, to compete in the NCAA South Central Region Championships, Saturday.

The women’s race starts at 9:30 a.m.; the men take off at 10:30 a.m.

The six men and seven women heading to Texas are competing in their second-to-last race of the season.

If the teams place in this race, they will move on to the NCAA D-II National Championships, Nov. 23 in Spokane, Wash.

Traveling for the women’s team this weekend are: Stacy Girard, senior of Alliance; Ashley Riesen, senior of Chadron; Jayme Nunes, sophomore of Alliance; Rebecca Volf, sophomore of Wood River; Sarah Townsend, sophomore of Douglas, Wyo.; Nicky Applegarth, freshman of Chadron; and Callie Johnson, freshman of Casper, Wyo.

Traveling for the men’s team are: Evans Koech, sophomore of Nairobi, Kenya; Dylan Stansbury, sophomore of Crawford; Robert Ricks, freshman of Douglas, Wyo.; Hank Jackson, freshman of Lingle, Wyo.; Josef Gertner, freshman of Fort Morgan, Colo.;  and Nathan Faulkner, senior of Morrill.
