This past week, the Eagles captured a win from the Colorado Christian University Cougars, Lakewood. The Cougars and the Eagles fought it out on Eagle turf, and the Eagles prevailed in five sets. This game was set aside as senior night, and was also the last home game of the season.

Middle hitter Jessica Jester, senior of Cheyenne, Wyo., said she was pleased with the outcome of the game.

“It feels so amazing to end my last home game on a win,” she said. “It seriously still feels like a dream because that kind of night and that kind of win was like something out of a movie. Everyone showed up to play and we left every ounce of effort on the court. Our crowd was hyped, our families were supportive, and our team was 100 percent bought in to get the win. All those aspects came together to give me a golden memory for years to come for my career as an Eagle.”

Jester contributed 10 kills and three blocks to the Eagles’ win.

Outside hitter Barbie DeCent, senior of Paxton, said she was also elated about Saturday’s win.

“It feels amazing to win and it was one of the most memorable, exciting and loving senior nights I have ever experienced,” she said. “I will never forget that moment, and I am glad I got to spend it with my team, who I consider my family.”

DeCent led the Eagle attack with 21 kills, and a match-high 27 digs.

Also for the Eagles, setter Justine Ackie, sophomore of Phoenix, pitched in with 59 set assists. Outside hitter Erika Roybal, junior of Denver, chipped in with 17 kills followed by right side hitter Nikki Schmidt, junior of Merino, Colo., with 10 kills, and middle hitter Alia Brennan, freshman of Chadron, with seven kills.

The Eagles fell to the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, in four sets along with Black Hills State University, Spearfish, S.D., in three sets this past week.
