Women’s basketball to begin season after exhibition

Chadron State women’s basketball team lost, 92-35, in an exhibition game against the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Friday.
The Cowgirls dominated the game in the paint out scoring the Eagles 40-4. They also out rebounded the Eagles 60-27.
Kayli Rageth, senior transfer of Kimball, led the Eagles with 10 points. Kattie Ranta, senior of Rapid City, S.D., who led the Eagles in scoring and rebounding last season, finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds.
She commented on the game.
“I know that we can be a great team,” Ranta said. “Now, we have to find it within ourselves to put it all together.”
Head Coach Tim Connealy said that he was happy with the way they executed offensively because they were able to run their sets against a quality Division I team. He said that there is still work to do on the defensive side of the floor, but overall it was a great experience. It was also a way to have the players compete against someone other than their teammates, he said.
The Eagles will open the 2013-2014 season at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Missouri Western State, St. Joseph.
