Wrestling begins season after intrasquad scrimmage

Today the Eagle wrestlers are in Greeley, Colo.,to compete in a duel against the University of Northern Colorado Bears.
The Eagle wrestling team this year is a young one. Consisting of 13 letter winners and 13 freshmen. However, Head Coach Brett Hunter said he is confident that the young team is headed in the right direction.
This week, the Eagles will travel to Powell, Wyo., to compete in the Northwest Open.
This past week the Eagles held the Annual Black and Cardinal Classic.
The purpose of the Black and Cardinal Classic was to give the coaches an idea of who would be wrestling in the upcoming matches.
The Black team won nine matches, including two by pin, to defeat their Cardinal teammates, 34-15. Those winning matches for the Black team were Joshua Miller, freshman of Bennet, Colo., 125 pounds; Frank Manning, freshman of Plattsmouth, 133 pounds; Jacob Anderson, freshman of Central City, 149 pounds; Tyler Smart, junior of Wheatland, Wyo., 174 pounds; Jordan Debus, senior of Mitchell, 184 pounds; Michael Hill, junior of Fort Laramie, Wyo., 285 pounds; and Devan Fors, junior of Roseburg, Ore., 197 pounds.
The Cardinal Team won five matches. Winners included Dustin Stodola, senior of Clarkson, 133 pounds; Caleb Copeland, freshman of Bennett, Colo., 165 pounds; Dylan Fors, junior of Roseburg, Ore., 174 pounds; and CJ Clark, junior of Rapid City, S.D., 157 pounds.
