Volleyball team will close out season in Denver this weekend

This weekend the Eagle volleyball team travels to Denver to round out their season with two RMAC matches. Friday night’s game matches the Eagles against the Regis University Rangers. Saturday, the Metropolitan State University Roadrunners take on CSC.

The Rangers are currently 15-11 overall and 11-6 in the RMAC, while the Roadrunners are 15-10 and 11-6 in the RMAC.

On Friday, the Eagles traveled to Colorado Springs to compete against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions. The Eagles defeated the Mountain Lions in five sets, bettering their record to 6-21.

Middle hitter, Alia Brennan, freshman of Chadron, led the team with 18 kills and an impressive .425 hitting percentage. She now totals 160 kills on the season.

Outside hitter, Barbie DeCent, senior of Paxton, added 17 kills to Brennan’s 18, along with 18 digs. DeCent lead the team in season totals with 223 kills. She totals 225 digs this season.

Middle hitter, Jessica Jester, senior of Cheyenne, Wyo., tallied 14 kills and five blocks. She’s posted 208 kills this season and she’s put a hand in 76 blocks.

As a whole, the Eagles marked up 63 kills and hit with an overall percentage of .217.

In the first set of the match the Eagles won with a lead of five points, and lost the second match to the Mountain Lions 25-23. The Eagles rallied and came back to win the third set. The Mountain Lions took the fourth match, 25-21. The Eagles came together for the final cry and won the fifth set by two points to claim the match victory.
