Newblom foundation accepting applications for scholarships
The Darold A. Newblom Foundation is accepting applications for grants and scholarships to be awarded in May.
Newblom operated his family’s farm near Hay Springs, until poor health forced him to retire in 1980. He lived in Alliance until his death on Dec. 15, 1988. The foundation was established under the Newblom’s Last Will and Testament.
This is the twenty-fourth year that the Alliance-based foundation has awarded grants and scholarships, according to a press release from Wally A. Sellier, foundation secretary-treasurer.
The foundation’s mission is to provide support for activities that engage the moral, mental, intellectual, and physical development of young men and women in Box Butte and Dawes Counties; to provide scholarships in assisting students in obtaining an education; and to assist in the founding, equipping and maintaining of associations or institutions engaged in the advancement of learning.
Students with educational plans that coincide with the foundation’s mission, are encouraged to obtain an application by contacting Seiler at (308) 762-4693 or mailing a request to 1208 Laramie Ave., Alliance, Neb., 69301
Applications must be submitted to the foundation’s board of directors no later than March 31.
