Women drop three games

Chadron State women’s basketball team lost against Black Hills State University, Spearfish, S.D., 89-45, on Jan. 9. That marked the seventh straight loss against the Yellow Jackets for the Eagles.

Kattie Ranta, senior of Rapid City, S.D., led the Eagles with 17 points in the contest. Kayli Rageth, senior of Kimball, scored 10 points along with 12 rebounds.

Adams State defeated the Eagles in overtime, 66-54, on Jan. 4, in Alamosa, Colo.

Rageth led the Eagles with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Dallas Shaw, junior of Buffalo, Wyo., scored 13 points.

The Eagles shot 42 percent from the field, and they were eight of 16 from the free throw line.

The Eagles also lost against Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo., 85-83, on Jan. 3. Ashley Kuchar, senior of Provo, Utah, sealed deal for the Skyhawks when she made a layup with one second left in the game.

The Eagles shot 48 percent from the floor including 10 of 16 from downtown.

Rageth scored a career high 27 points. Ranta and Shaw scored both 19 points.

The Eagles are now 1-12 overall and 1-8 in conference. They will host New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, at 5:30 Friday. CSC will face Western New Mexico University, Silver City, in Chadron at 5:30 Saturday.
