Senate votes in new treasurer
Seven thousand dollars will fund this year’s “Release Live” event. Senate agreed to allocate $1,000 above the requested budget due to last year’s complications with budget estimates. Any extra funding will be returned to the student activity fund. “Release Live” will be March 22.
A new bylaw was passed enabling associate members enrolled in less than 12 undergraduate credits or nine graduate credits to serve on Senate. This bylaw was drafted by Chief Justice Jon Lordino and evaluated by Senate members. The new bylaw states, “Senators shall be enrolled in at least twelve (12) hours of undergraduate credit, or at least nine (9) hours of graduate credit at Chadron State College, an exception is made when any association member is enrolled in a number less than (12) hours of undergraduate credit, or under (9) hours of graduate credit in order to complete said degree requirements and is in good standing with Chadron State College.”
The new Senate Vice President of Finances is Kirby Krogman. Krogman was voted by Senate to fill the position after Ashley Swanson resigned during last week’s meeting. Krogman was initiated after resigning his position on the Activity Fee Board. Nathan Still was awarded Krogman’s resigned position.
President Jacob Rissler announced $10,000 will come from revenue bonds to fund new furniture in the Student Center. An additional $10,000 will be provided by Senate. The furniture and layout will be designed and determined by the student body. Interested parties wanting to being part of the design team, please contact a member of Senate.
The Campus Activities Board discussed homecoming for this coming fall, and the Career Fair taking place March 21. The date of homecoming has been set for Oct. 4, and the themes are still being discussed. An update on the CAB’s Constitution is also going to be made so that not all meetings will be mandatory, and clubs won’t be punished if they are absent. Allocation of funds will be directly proportional to a club’s attendance.
Clubs need to get in their itemized budgets by March 7, so that the distribution of funds can be planned accordingly. Other upcoming events include the Club Fair, which takes place from 6-7 p.m., March 5, in the library lobby. The next mandatory CAB meeting will be on March 4.
