Campus Activities Board

CAb allocates $4,400 for upcoming events

The Campus Activities Board allocated $1,500 for Free Bowling Night, $1,800 for Free Movie Night, $600 for Scholastics Day, and $500 for Asian Pacific Night, allocating a total of $4,400.

The Big Event Representative Jessica Jester spoke to remind those present that registration for The Big Event is March 17 in the Student Center.  Clubs are encouraged to sign up as a whole in order to ensure that there are enough helping hands for that day of community service, April 26.

Homecoming is taking place on Oct. 4 next fall, and the more popular themes among students and faculty so far include a “Wild West” and an “Olympic” theme.  Other themes discussed in the meeting included a “Frozen” theme based on the popular Disney movie.

Two new clubs were voted in including the Acapella group and The Nest, which is a sports marketing group.  These two officially new groups bring the total number of clubs held on campus to 41, which is the most clubs CAB has ever had.

Upcoming events include a chili feed, March 19, sponsored by ROTC and the War Eagles club; Career Fair, March 21; Release, March 22; Free Movie Night, March 23; a “No Hate Week” sponsored by the Allies, March 24-28; and Free Bowling Night, March 29.  The Free Movie Night is also a mandatory canned food drive meaning that students cannot get into the movie unless they bring a canned food item.

The next mandatory CAB meeting will be April 29, and new executive board members will be chosen and voted for that night.
