CSC student jailed on sexual assault affidavit
A 19-year-old CSC student athlete remained in Dawes County Jail Friday afternoon following his arrest Wednesday night in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred off campus Monday, Chadron Police and college officials said.
Tre M. Brown, sophomore of Donaldsonville, La., was arrested on a probable cause affidavit citing first degree sexual assault, a class II felony. Dawes County Judge Russell Harford set bond at 10 percent of $250,000.
Listed as a defensive back, Brown is one of 36 non-numbered players on the 2014 CSC football roster, according to the college’s athletics website.
“The alleged incident occurred off campus and he was not arrested on campus,” Jon Hansen, interim vice president of enrollment management and marketing, said Friday.
“The college is following the requirements of Board Policy 3020 with respect to sexual violence or sexual harassment reporting and we have cooperated fully with Chadron Police Department as they investigate,” Hansen said.
A press release issued Thursday, by Chadron Police states they responded to a report of the alleged sexual assault. Their investigation led to Brown’s arrest, the release states.
Chadron Police declined further comment on Friday.
