First football game to honor All-Century team

Saturday opens the Eagles football season against Missouri S&T, Rolla, noon at Elliott Field. This season marks the 100th season of football at CSC. In honor of this momentous occasion, an All-Century team has been named and will be honored at the season opener this weekend.

The All-Century team is composed of 58 players from the past. Criteria for making the team included being named to the All-Nebraska or RMAC All-Conference teams at least twice, selected to All-American teams or the CSC Athletic Hall of Fame, and finally impressive statistics.

Thirty-six players from the team said they would be at the game Saturday. Some of the players planning to be there include Corey Anderson (1987-1990), Travis Atter (2006-2009), Austin Bailey (2005-2008), Mitch Barry (2001-2004), Jason Barthel (1998-2001), Randy Bauer (1971-1973), Casey Beran (1995-1999), Kevin Berg (2007-2010), Cory Brooks (1992-1995), Jess Clarke (1996-1999), Glen Clinton (2010-2013), Jeremy Eardley (1998-2001), Chad Emanuel (1974-1977), Cody Gamble (1991-1994), Brandon Harrington (2006-2009), Tim Hiett (2007-2011), Chad Johnson (1991-1994), Joe Juelfs (1991-1995), Kevin Lindholm (2009-2012), Dan Maciejczak (1994-1996), Joe McLain (2005-2008), Trevor Moon (1995-1998), Rick Nave (1971-1974), Mike Parks (1968-1971), Joe Plananasky (1991-1994), Ben Puffer (2006-2009), Jay Rhoades (1988-1991), Cody Roes (2010-2013), Paul Schweger (2004-2007), Layne Sievers (2001-2004), Duane Smith (1984-1985), J.C. Sollars (1947-1950), Trelan Taylor (2010-2013), Ken Thompson (1979-1981), Ryan Turman (1995-1998), Jeff Jap (1997-2000), Aaron Ide (2005-2008), and Lonnie Wickard (1957-1958).

Some of the players who couldn’t make it are sending family in place. Carlyle Colerick, widow of Lyle Colerick (1947-1949), and Diane Longacre, daughter of Dub Miller (1931-1934), will be attending Saturday.

Those honored players will be recognized at halftime of Saturday’s game. Honorees will also be treated to a pregame lunch and will be invited to a post-game gathering. They will receive a memento as recognition.
