Wow, what a ride!

With three event-winners, one runner-up, the all-around cowboy, and the men’s championship, the CSC Rodeo team had a successful weekend at its only home rodeo of the season.
The men’s team tallied 605 points, landing them at the top of the field of 10-teams. The win pushed the team up from eighth to second place in the Central Rocky Mountain region.
CSC cowboy Jeff Cover, senior of Ashby, won the Saddle Bronc Riding title with 124 points in the average. Cover entered Sunday’s finals in second place after scoring a 54-point ride in the long go. He was the only cowboy in the six-man field to make 8-seconds.
Cover also finished fourth in the average for Tie-Down Roping, which earned him all-around cowboy. Cover knotted his calf in 12.7 seconds in the long-go, followed by a 15.5-second time in the final go for a 28.2 second time on two head.
Prestyn Novak, freshman of Newell, South Dakota, earned second, edging out his senior teammate by four seconds. Novak posted 11.1-seconds in the long go and 13.1 seconds in the short go for a 24.1

Wyatt Clark, graduate student of Wellfleet, won the bareback riding title, earning 151 points in the average. Clark entered finals tied for second with Dantan Bertsch of Casper College, after posting a 76-point ride in the long go. He followed that with a 75-point ride in the short go, to beat Neil Williams, also of Casper College, by one point.
CSC’s women’s team finished third in an 8-team field with 180 points, after Gillette College with 590 points, and second place Northeastern Junior College with 395 points.
CSC cowgirl Shaylee Hance, senior of Circle, Montana, won both go-rounds of the Goat Tying, posting a pair of 7.1-second runs for an average of 14.2 on two head.
The CSC rodeo team travels to Sheridan, Wyoming, this weekend for the Sheridan College Rodeo Sept. 26-28.
