Students learn about alcohol abuse, Third World countries

Monday night raised awareness about alcohol abuse and how Third World countries use every day items American’s use for things.
Students could choose from a variety of non-alcoholic drink mixes that were served in plastic martini and margarita cups at the Happy Hour event. A slide show with alcohol awareness facts played on repeat as students came and left the Gold Room. Conversation about

alcohol and its effects also could be heard.
Following directly after Happy Hour, the Culture Shock event began at 6:30 p.m.
At this event students could learn about how citizens of Third World countries do not have everyday items such as shoes. Therefore, they make shoes from plastic water bottles and plastic bag handles.
A pair of shoes was made and students took turns walking through an obstacle course, with the fastest time winning a prize.
Other students made their own shoes, beaded wristbands, and left their footprints on a piece of colorful paper that was hanged in the Breezeway for display.
