CAB votes changes to bylaws, takes decision to Senate

CAB voted to change its bylaws and will take the changes to Senate for approval Monday. CAB plans to change the members of the executive board and add the position of Vice Chair of Relations. Right now, Stephanie Steele, vice chair of records, is also serving in this position. Vice Chair of Relations would “maintain public relations with Chadron State College departments and the community.” This person would be in charge of the social media accounts for CAB.

“To have a really great social media, we need another person to focus just on social media,” Steele said.

She said as vice chair of records there are a lot of things she has to do and thinks adding the position is a good idea. With the addition of this position, the student trustee will become a non-voting body to maintain an odd number of voting executives. The roll call vote was unanimous. If Senate approves the changes to the bylaws, CAB will begin to take nominations for the position Tuesday.

The treasurer reported that CAB has $6,530 in unallocated funds.

Andy Martin, vice chair of programming, asked members from The Pit to talk about the Haunted House. The Pit planned on decorating yesterday. The Haunted House will have four sections: a jungle section, classic horror monster section, miscellaneous section, and Amityville section. The Haunted House will start at 8:30 p.m. today, and anyone who wants to help in any way can show up to help. If volunteers need help with makeup, they can show up at 8 p.m.

Steele is asking for volunteers to sit on a committee for a Quidditch tournament CAB will be hosting this fall and for volunteers for a Hunger Games committee. Steele said CAB will have a CSC Hunger Games in the spring. Those interested in sitting on the committees should talk to her.

Laure Sinn, CAB adviser, claimed the job as Effie Trinket for the CSC Hunger Games, and she reminded clubs about yesterday’s Purple Day.

CAB Adviser Deena Kennell thanked students for their support of the first ever fall Career Fair last week.

Student Trustee Jacob Rissler thanked and commended the members of the CAB executive board for taking time out of their schedules to attend the leadership conference this weekend.

Mackenzie Watson, member of the new sorority on campus, talked about the sorority. Xi Delta Zeta values service, stewardship, scholarship, and sisterhood, she said.

There will be an election party at 5 p.m., Tuesday in The Pit area. They will be giving away a tablet, TV, movies, speakers, and more. Food will be provided.

Martin said that the next free bowling night is Nov. 15 and the next free movie night is Nov. 16.
