Volleyball team drop 2 on the road
Colorado Christian University swept CSC Saturday winning 25-8, 25-13, 25-11.
The Cougars poured on the points quickly as they went on two 7-0 runs in the first set.
Outside Hitter Ali Weber, senior of Aurora, Colorado, led CCU’s offense tallying 11 kills, two service aces and held .688 hitting percentage. Committing only eight hitting errors, CCU crushed 41 kills and seven service aces.
CCU was not willing to give up defensively; they put up 11 total team blocks.
CCU Setter Jordan Kessler, senior of Aurora, Colorado, did well distributing 35 assists. She marked seven blocks.

CSC’s Outside Hitter Hanna Flaming, senior of Benton, Kansas, led the team with six kills. Outside Hitter Alexis Farris, freshman of Blair, added five kills, five digs, and an ace.
Setter Justine Ackie, junior of Phoenix, Arizona, marked 11 assists.
Defensive Specialist Brittany Oddo, senior of Peoria, Arizona, dug 11 balls, and Middle Hitter Alia Brennan, sophomore of Chadron, blocked twice.
The team played South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City, Tuesday. The Eagles played a close game, but lost 25-22, 21-25, 25-23, and 25-20.
The Eagles, now 3-20 overall, and Mines were even after two sets. The Mines shut down the Eagles in the final two sets, leaving them with a hitting percentage under .100.
Despite the loss, the Eagles marked a statistically better night. Outside Hitter Erika Roybal, senior of Denver, hit .357, and Flaming contributed 14 kills, and Middle Hitter Lelalelei Nomura, junior of Pago Pago, American Samoa, added eight. Ackie passed out 32 assists.
Defensive Specialist Alyssa Bauer, senior of Rapid City, South Dakota, posted a season-high 30 digs, and Brennan helped on three blocks.
“We gave our best effort, and this team always come to play,” Eagles Head Coach Chris Wells said, “but I’m disappointed about the outcome of the game.”
The Eagles will play Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Friday and Metropolitan State University of Denver Saturday. Both games will be at Armstrong Gym.
