Wrestling team splits 4 duals, 3 wrestlers place at open meet
This weekend the Eagle wrestlers traveled to Great Falls, Montana, to compete in the Argo Duals and the University of Great Falls Battle of the Rockies.
The Eagles went 2-2 this weekend defeating Great Falls, 30-15, and Minot State, 30-12. They were overpowered by Montana State-Northern, 22-18, and McKendree University of Illinois, 30-13.
Sophomores Taylor Summers, of Plymouth, 133-pounds, and Jacob Anderson, of Central City, 149-pounds, won all four matches at the duals. Both have season records of 12-4. Summers completed the duals with three decisions and a pin, and Anderson posted two pins, a major decision, and a decision.
Five CSC wrestlers went 2-2 during the duals. They are Robert Ozuna, freshman of Omaha, 125-pounds; Josh Miller, redshirt freshman of Bennett, Colorado, 141-pounds; C.J. Clark, senior of Rapid City, South Dakota, 157-pounds; Caleb Copeland, sophomore of Bennett, Colorado, 174-pounds; and Jake Weber, sophomore of Rapid City, South Dakota, heavyweight.
Three Eagles placed at the tournament Saturday. Clark was the champion at 157-pounds and Devan Fors, senior of Roseburg, Oregon earned fifth at 197-pounds. At 165-pounds, Chance Helmick, freshman of Beatrice, earned sixth place.
The next competition for the Eagles will be Thursday when they will dual the Northern State Wolves in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
