New student trustee announced at CAB meeting

Student Trustee Jacob Rissler announced this is his last meeting and congratulated Vice Chair of Relations Mikayla Gallagher on securing his old position.

CAB Chair Andy Martin announced that nominations  for executive board will be recognized the first week in April. To run for an executive board  position, students must be a CAB member for at least a semester. To run for the position of CAB chair, students have to be a CAB member for at least a year.

CAB reported $7,408.52 in unallocated funds.

Vice Chair of Finance Kelley McNabb reported that late club packets can still be turned in, but clubs will face an appeals process in order to be approved by the Activity Fee Board.

McNabb also requested an allocation of no more than $2,000 for free movie night.

Budget packet meetings will be scheduled for the first two weeks of April. The sign up sheet is located in the Student Senate office.

Another free bowling night is scheduled March 28. It will be themed as 80s night.

Vice Chair of CAB Programming Chelsea Evans wanted to remind students Sunday is free movie night. The Eagle theatre will be playing “Cinderella,” “Run All Night,” and “Insurgent.” The doors will open at 6:45 p.m.

There has been some confusion regarding the club signups for the Big Event, said Coordinator Lane Swedberg. Every member has to fill out the electronic form and check which club they want to work with.

If your club is not listed, contact someone on The Big Event staff so that they can add your club and get you on the correct list. The Big Event is aiming for 1,000 participants this year. So far, 130 students have registered. Registration closes April 1.

CAB members and students can submit petitions and constitutional questions to anyone on the executive council.

College Relations Club is holding a meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Ponderosa room to plan events for the rest of the semester and next year.

Blue Key National Honor Society will hold their annual dodge ball tournament at 6:30 p.m.  March 26.

Teams must be composed of six members, two being girls. Registration forms can be found in Alex Helmbrecht’s office in Sparks 111.

A new club, Hearts and Minds, will start meeting at 8 p.m., every Thursday night in the Bordeaux room. This club raises awareness and prevention of sexual harassment.

No advisers were present at the March 3 meeting.

Josh Mayer was approved for $3,000 from CAB for his event Chadron’s Got Talent, co-sponsored by War Eagles.

Auditions will be held March 23-25 in the Chicoine Atrium of the Student Center. The event will be held in Memorial Hall on April 7.

CAB allocated $2,500 for Bongo Ball, an event in which students are put inside giant inflatable balls and play a tournament of soccer. The date for the event is April 30, the afternoon of the Nearly Naked Mile.

Danielle Hencey Lecher  wanted to open up the new student orientation Friday night BBQ in August to anyone who wanted to come. Xi Delta Zeta and Omega Phi Rho are also inviting everyone to join the Saturday morning pancake feed that same weekend.

There will be boxes placed at Walmart, Safeway, the Student Center and various other locations to collect food for stray dogs in the area.
