New university systems president visits campus

Chadron State College hosted a dinner and reception for newly hired University of Nebraska Systems President Hank M. Bounds Wednesday night as one stop on his tour of Nebraska.
Bounds is touring various Nebraska state and community college’s, along with high schools throughout the state. The tour began Sunday and will last until Friday, with the last stop at Wayne State College.
Bounds asked to tour the state to learn more information about who the people of Nebraska are, since he is originally from Mississippi, where he was the former University of Mississippi System President.
“We were trying to expose him to all of Nebraska,” Jill Brown, external relations representative, said.
As the systems president, Bounds serves above the chancellors from the Nebraska Universities-Lincoln, Kearney, and Omaha.
When asked why he chose to take the position and move to Nebraska, Bounds had three main reason, the first being “my wife and I felt Lincoln would be a great place to raise our children.”
Bounds also added that this next chapter of his life he wanted to make a real difference and said, “I think this is that kind of place.”
A reception with hors d’oeuvres and conversation welcomed the guests, with CSC President Randy Rhine introducing Bounds before the dinner was served.
Bounds and his team have traveled 750 miles since Sunday, and still have two more days of traveling left before ending at Wayne State College on Friday.
