Student Senate voting open now
This was the last meeting with both senators and the current executive board with elections starting Wednesday.
Chief Justice Coy Clark announced that voting would be open noon Wednesday and would close at the same time Friday. Justice Nick Stokey read the petitions ruled on by the Court.
Senator Syerra Wycoff-Bagshaw’s petition for Vice Presidency was denied because she has not served at least a half term in Senate.
Senator Michael Hall’s petition for Presidency was approved, though he has not served a full term. Senator Hall’s late installment was out of his hands and therefor the Court ruled in a 4-1 opinion that Hall should not be punished.
Vice President of Finance Hannah Love reported $36,443.25 in unallocated funds.
Faculty Advisor Susan Schaeffer recognized Senate’s procedure errors in past meetings.
Vice President Taylor Strong was not present at the meeting, but wanted it announced that her greenhouse project is going well. Anyone interested in helping on the project can contact her at [email protected].
Senator Nathaniel Jones reported that he is still working with Lucinda Mays on the campus beautification project. Once a start date has been decided; Jones will email anyone interested in helping.
Laure Sinn wants to invite students to join the Diversity Committee’s event celebrating Beijing and Pacific month from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will be dancing, luau food, and chopsticks lessons.
RLA will be holding signups for an event called “Larping” at 7 p.m., April 20. The event will be a Medieval/Renaissance inspiring occasion featuring foam sword fights and a feast of turkey legs on April 23.
The Hearts and Minds club will be holding a Sexual Harassment Walk starting at the clock tower at 11 a.m., April 18.
The walk will consist of stations along a trail that will demonstrate different assault scenarios to teach students how to handle different situations. The Chadron Police Department will also give a presentation on sexual harassment at the end. There will be a Subway lunch provided and free t-shirts.
