NSCS Board increase tuition, approve contracts
Undergraduate students across the state will feel the effects of decisions made during the June 18 NSCS Board meeting at Wayne State College.
One main order of business was the approval of a 9 percent increase to undergraduate tuition rates. The increase will go into effect for the 2015-16 academic year and will increase the price per credit hour from $140 in academic year 2014-15 to $153 in academic year 2015-16. The online-only tuition will increase to $246 per credit hour from $225 per credit hour.
For the past two years, the tuition rate for the state colleges in Nebraska has been frozen at $140 per credit hour for undergraduate students.
CSC’s Rangeland Center Lab Building is nearing completion and CSC and the System Office recommended the appointment of a committee to review the completion at the next NSCS board meeting.
The System office also recommended the approval of the Chancellor and Presidents’ contract extensions and salaries for 2015-16. Their contracts will be extended until June 30, 2017.
The board went over the preliminary budgets for all of the state colleges and reviewed the rank promotions and faculty changes during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with reports from the Presidents’ of each college. CSC’s President, Randy Rhine, wrote about the highlights of CSC over the year including the opening of the Chicoine Center, the construction of the Rangeland Complex, academic achievements, student awards, study abroad trips, alumni awards, and the retirement of faculty and staff.
