Trustees boost tuition

After enjoying a two-year hold on tuition costs, students at CSC will pay more—9 percent more—for classes this semester.

At its June 18 meeting at Wayne State College, the NSCS Board of Trustees voted 4-1 to approve a 9 percent tuition increase for the three state colleges—Chadron, Peru and Wayne—for the 2015-16 academic year.

Last year, CSC students paid $140 per credit hour, this year that rate jumped $13 to $153 per credit hour. These rates do not include fees. The “all inclusive” rate, which includes tuition and fees, went from $194.82 per credit hour to $210.57 per credit hour.

The online-only “all inclusive” rate increased $21 from $225 per credit hour last year to $246 per credit hour this year.

Members who supported the decision say the increase will help cover utility, insurance and additional faculty costs.

CSC’s non-resident students taking courses on site will pay the college’s “Eagle rate” of $154 per credit hour this year, up $13 from last year’s $141 rate. However, non-resident students enrolled in courses at CSC’s satellite sites will pay $306 per credit hour this year, up $26 from last year’s rate of $280.
