Golf team tees up victory

The Chadron State College women’s golf team started its season off by winning the South Dakota School of  Mines and Technology invite, Friday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City, South Dakota, and placing four girls in the top 10.

CSC finished first with a score of 363, South Dakota Mines and finished second with a score of 378, and Black Hills State University finished with a score of 384.

Emma Harris, senior of Wahoo, won individual honors with an 83, Sam Rahmig, freshman of Gering finished third with an 88.

“I think our team performed pretty well,” Harris said.

CSC also carded two more in the top 10, with Kelli Haynes, sophomore of Whitney, finishing sixth with a 95, and Schuyler Wetzel, senior of Hot Springs, South Dakota tied for ninth place with a 97.

Mikayla Gallagher, sophomore of Lead, South Dakota, finished 13 with a 102, and Karson Langley, sophomore of Sidney, finished 19 with a 109.

“Hart Ranch is definitely one of the hardest courses we play all year,” Harris said, “so  I think we handled it fairly well.”

The CSC golf team will be at Colorado State University-Pueblo on Labor Day.
