Golfers finish 11th at Samuel Proal Invitatational

The Chadron State College golf team finished 11th out of 13 by scoring a 678 as a combined total of Monday and Tuesday at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Pueblo Country Club.

Kelli Haynes, sophomore of Whitney, lead the team with an 80 on Monday and an 87 on Tuesday, for a combined total of 167.

“I was hitting my driver a lot better, keeping it in the fairway and kept my putts to a minimum,” Haynes said.

Schuyler Wetzel, senior of Hot Springs, South Dakota, was right behind Haynes with an 85 on Monday and an 83 Tuesday, for a combined score of 168. Emma Harris, senior of Wahoo, kept a consistent score of an 86 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday, for a combined total on 171. Sam Rahmig, freshman of Gering, scored an 88 on Monday and an 84 on Tuesday, for a combined total of 172.  Karson Langley, sophomore of Sidney, finished day one with a 94 and day two with a 92, for a combined total of 186.

“I am proud of the team’s performance,” Harris said. “It was a difficult course but we didn’t let it get in our heads.”

The Eagles will be competing at the RMAC Tournament No. 1 Monday and Tuesday in Longmont, Colorado.
