Reynolds assumes duties as new SID

Athletic director Joel Smith Jr. announced that Heath Reynolds will be the new sports information director at CSC, Monday.

Reynolds, who was formerly a substitute teacher in Liberty, Missouri, will replace Alex Helmbrecht, the director of college relations. Reynolds said that the community itself drew him to CSC.

“The school has a rich tradition in sports and athletics,” Reynolds said. “I’m following two really good SIDs and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Reynolds has a bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Upper Iowa University. He also was an SID and assistant football coach at Concordia St. Paul University in 2010. He has experience in radio, web, and media relations. He was also the SID at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.

“It was a great experience down there, but it wasn’t a place that I wanted to stay forever,” Reynolds said. “It was a stepping stone school that people go to for three or four years and then move on to bigger D-II or D-I schools.”

Reynolds said that he has no ambition of moving on to a large D-I university and that he likes the small school atmosphere.

“Chadron is a big fish in a little pond, and I like being a part of that,” Reynolds said.
