NSCS approves CSC football stadium, track project

The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees approved the program statement for the football stadium and outdoor track project for CSC at the Sept. 11 Board meeting hosted at CSC.

Dan Worth, of Bahr Vermeer Haecker Architects, presented the program statement to the Board at a session on Sept. 10. The Board was told Elliott Field is deteriorating, so according to the Campus Master Plan in 2012, the plan was to demolish the original stadium and create a new stadium, football field, and press box. Plans include creating a new outdoor track as well.

CSC also updated degree programs at CSC as part of the meeting. The major of Community Mental Health Counseling has been changed to Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Gerontology and Hospitality were added as minors. Organizational Psychology and Psychology & the Legal System were removed as minors. The Wildlife Biology minor is now Organismal Biology.

The Board approved the carryforward funds of operations for the three state colleges. CSC will carryforward $1,347,763.35 in cash funds and $156,696.07 in revolving funds.

CSC has $78,756 in write-off uncollectible student accounts fees. In order for fee to be considered uncollectible, they must be at least two years old, and the college must use every measure possible in collecting the money, including turning accounts over to a collection agency.

In his reports, CSC President Randy Rhine stated that 636 undergraduates students received academic honors in Spring 2015. The president’s list was 277 names deep, and the dean’s list had 359 students on it.

Rhine said that two faculty members published books in the summer: Kurt Kinbacher, assistant professor of history, and Steven Coughlin, assistant professor of English and Humanities.

Rhine stated that six students attended the national Phi Beta Lambda conference in Chicago and two of them finished in the top eight.
