Skills for Healthy Living
On Monday, the Resident Life Association hosted an event in the Gold room in CSC’s dormitory complex. The event was geared toward promoting health and wellness as well as providing tips on how a person should go about doing things in their everyday life and giving advice on how to have good time management.
At the end of the event, they held a raffle giving away many prizes that coincided with the topics that were talked about throughout the whole presentation.
Jazz Bozner, the Resident Director for the Kent Hall dorms, was the speaker for the event. Even though it was called a health and wellness event it was geared more toward helping newer students learn the correct way to do everyday tasks on their own.
The things Bozner showed students how to do were changing tires, laundry, ironing clothes, organizing computer files, and much more.
He spoke about keeping up with your student email, something he stressed should be done better by all students. The importance of this information is vital especially considering how many new students struggle with almost everything he gave advice on.
The raffle included prizes ranging from irons and ironing boards to tool kits and tire pressure gauges. The gifts in the raffle were well thought out because they all had something to do with what Bozner talked about.
About 25 people stayed for the whole time and about 10 who came and left at different times.
Students learned multiple life skills from attending the event.
“It was a good way to get hands on with the students because it involved going to different areas and actually showing them how to do it instead of just talking about it,” Yadira Gurrola, 21, senior of Scottsbluff, said.
