Inflatable movie screen has arrived at CSC

Senate currently has $127, 942.61 in unallocated funds.

There will be a suicide prevention walk coming up soon. The coordinator will present about this walk to Student Senate at next week’s meeting.

Clayton Hinman was petitioned into Student Senate as the Liberal Studies senator. There are five open positions on Student Senate: two at large, one High Rise dorm, and two School of E.H.P.C.P.S.W.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the school expects positive attitudes from the senators at all times. They are expected to always conduct themselves in a professional manner. They should also not talk negatively about Senate. If there are issues, the senators should bring them to a Student Senate meeting.

A leadership conference will come to campus on Nov. 12. The potential speakers are Brian Banks, a formal NFL player; John Dau, a Sudan Genocide Escapee; and Sandra Fluke, an empowerment speaker. These speakers will mainly be presenting on different aspects of leadership.

CAB asked Senate to approve the LARP Society and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation clubs as clubs.

CAB also requested no more than $2,000 to go towards Free Movie Nights, which starts this Sunday. There will be an online vote that could approve this request. Two of the movies playing are “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” and “Hotel Transylvania 2.”

The concert being hosted by Chi Alpha and Revive that was approved by CAB has now been presented to Senate. They are asking no more than $5,500 to be allocated for the concert. Students will have the opportunity to voice their opinions at next week’s Student Senate meeting.

There will be an outdoor movie night using the inflatable movie screen approved by CAB and Senate tonight behind Kent Hall and High Rise.

Senate stressed that the NSCS board meetings, such as the ones that were hosted by CSC, are open to the public, but the committee meetings are not open to the public.

Senate approved the allocation of no more than $1,300 for the Homecoming laser tag event. The coordinators of the laser tag event may ask if ROTC would allow them to borrow some of their bunkers and camouflage to add to the other bunkers that have already been arranged for the event.

There will be a formal dedication of the new Rangeland Complex at 9 a.m.,  Saturday. The formal dedication of the Chicoine Center will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday.
