Email sent to alert staff of phishing scam
Thursday morning, faculty and staff at CSC received an email from Pamela Anderson, secretary to the president, regarding a phishing alert.
The email stated that employees from the University of Nebraska have been receiving emails for a couple weeks with links to fraudulent websites. The emails were asking employees to enter their Firefly credentials.
According to Amee Diers, human resources manager, Firefly is a software the college systems use to pay their employees. She said the emails have not been noticed on CSC’s campus.
Becky Kohrs, operations director for the Nebraska State College System Office, said that at 1 p.m., Thursday there were still no accounts of any emails being sent to any of the three state colleges.
The email that was sent to employees stated that emails that are sent from Firefly will not require credentials. Diers mirrored this statement, saying that an automated message will say to contact HR for questions and will not require credentials.
The emails was sent as a warning to employees to be aware of the situation and to alert faculty and staff to not open emails requiring credentials from Firefly.
