RLA provides students with life skills learning opportunities

On Monday, the seniors from the social work department teamed up with the Residence Life Association to put on an event about consent and sexual assault in the Gold Room. The event focused on sexual assault throughout the nation, what to do if you see it, and how to prevent it from happening to you.

This event started at 7 p.m. and lasted about 45 minutes.  About 12 people stayed from start to finish, but more flowed in as the time went on. Brittany Senecal, resident director of High Rise, was the leader of this event. Students and faculty played a family feud type game to test their knowledge on sexual assault and consent.

At the end of the event prizes were given to the winning team, and people were allowed to stick around and hang out afterwards.

“I really enjoyed this program because it was fun competing with friends, but I also learned a lot about sexual assault, different ways to handle it, and how to prevent it from happening,” Kris Boardman, of Gordon, said.
