Study abroad program open to all

Justice Studies professor Tracy Nobiling discussed plans for the upcoming study abroad program “The Path to Justice” during an informational meeting for students. During the meeting Nobiling commented that the Justice Studies department was “doing study abroad before it was cool.” “The Path to Justice” marks the 39th anniversary of the Justice Studies program.

The trip is open to all students of all majors and costs $5,450. That price includes two-way airfare, transportation to every location abroad, hotels and continental breakfasts, course-related tours and entrance fees, and health insurance. Additional costs not included are tuition, transportation to Rapid City Airport, passport, meals besides breakfast, and other incidental expenses. Study Abroad Scholarships are available to all majors as well as financial aid. Heather Crofutt from the START office is available to talk to students about receiving financial aid for the trip in Crites 114, or contact her to set up an appointment at (308) 432- 6060 or [email protected].

Scholarship applications and short-term study abroad applications can be collected from Nobiling in Old Admin 302. Both applications are due Nov. 20, 2015.

“The Path to Justice” begins in London, England, and then travels through Paris, France, and The Hague, Netherlands, May 8-22, 2016. Sites like Windsor Castle, Oxford, Westminster Abbey, the Eiffel Tower, The Lourve, and the Hall of Knights, among other places, will be visited while students learn about the justice systems in each of these countries compared to the one here in the United States.

Courses available for 3-6 credit hours include: CJ 436 Comparative Criminal Justice, LS 438 Topics: Comparative Legal Studies, and CJ 446 Cross Cultural Studies/Justice Studies (Essential Studies #10- Human Diversity).
