Straight out of “Harry Potter,” Quidditch flew to CSC’s campus Friday, thanks to the organization of Katrina Hurley, 21, senior of Seward, RA of Kent, at the Amphitheater, outside of Brooks Hall.

The rules are almost the same as in the books and movies, except there is no flying involved.

Each team has three chasers, two beaters, and one seeker, and at the end of the field, one keeper.

To win, the teams had to score 150 points or catch the snitch. The snitch was strapped to RAs, who ran around the Amphitheater.

“Lots of people love ‘Harry Potter,’ and Quidditch is athletic, and nerdy enough to get the whole campus involved,” Hurley said, describing why she chose to organize this event.

The game was set up with three circles of different sizes on each side of the Amphitheater, just as in the movies.

The players and public could enjoy some “Butter Beer,” a reference from the books and movies, and also cookies in the shape of the snitch.

The game was “something fun to do, something different than the normal mix sports on campus,” Justin Schwartzkopf, 19, sophomore of Gering, said. He said he had a great time, like multiple other players.

Around 100 people attended the tournament.
