CSC students learn money skills

The Resident Life Association hosted a session called “Bankrolling College Style” from 7-8 p.m., Monday in the Gold Room in CSC’s dormitory complex. The event focused on providing tips to save money and making smart choices financially. About 30 people attended the events.

There was a raffle at the end of the session which gave away many prizes that related to the topics they talked about, including books from Dave Ramsey, an American financial author.

Jacob Rissler, Eagles Ridge RD, of Gillette, Wyoming, was the speaker of the session. The event helped students to make correct financial choices and informed them about credit score.

The first thing that he talked about during the presentation was Dave Ramsey’s “7 Baby Steps for Money.” It helped students to pay the debts after colleges and to plan on saving and retirement funds in the future.

He spoke about budgeting your money to not over-spend. He also talked about credit score and how it affects your purchases. There was a discussion at the end of the presentation for students to ask their remaining question about finance.

“I learned how to budget my money, the good and bad of credit score,” Connor Besse, sophomore of Denver, said. “But the most important, I know today is Dave Ramsey’s ‘7 Baby Steps of Finance,’ it will help me a lot after college.”
