Syerra At Large
This week in Senate, Student Senate President Katrina Hurley introduced a new project that I think is not only a great opportunity for students, but is an opportunity to give back to our community and better our city of Chadron.
There are an abundance of stray animals in Chadron, and some of them suffer mistreatment, and according to some reports, a good number of these animals have been discovered with numerous mutilations inflicted by people. That’s where we as a community should come together to make a change.
There’s an animal shelter that we’d like to get up and running once again in order to give these animals a home and better treatment. This shelter could be run by students and other members of the community and might even offer work-study positions or other similar vacancies.
The details aren’t hammered out quite yet, but if you’re interested in helping out with this project please stop by the Student Senate office or send an email to Hurley.
