CSC 10k record set at Regional meet
Dylan Stansbury, junior of Crawford, set CSC’s cross country record with his 10k time of 31:23.2 at the South Central Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday in Canyon, Texas. Stansbury came in 27th and reduced his time from last year by four minutes and 14 seconds.
“I felt pretty good. I was only four places from qualifying for nationals and only two places from being All-Region. I think I would have qualified for nationals if I was competing in a different regional championship meet,” Stansbury said.
Junior Nicky Banzhaf, of Chadron, finished the 6k 24th in 22:27 and shaved two and a half minutes off her time from last year. Her run placed her less than 30 seconds away from the CSC women’s cross country record, ran by former CSC Track and Field All-American Stacy Girard.
“I just kept praying, really trying to focus on God when I was tired. I didn’t race the race I wanted, but I’m proud of the team and myself. We moved up four spots and had some nice PRs,” Banzhaf said.
