Syerra At Large
Senators moral duty and obligation is to vote in policies that their constituents want; in the recent Senate meeting Student Senate deliberated upon the reinstatement of the Health 101 service provided on campus. A large amount of student fees goes towards this service and it provides helpful tips and reminders on how to stay healthy, manage course loads, sexual assault awareness on campus, etc.
My concern as a student senator at-large is that the service is not being utilized to its full capacity, and as such is not worth the money being allocated towards it. Upon receiving notification of the discussion I talked to a few constituents and asked if they were subscribed to the service, to which they all replied no.
I would like to use this column to reach out to students that I may not get the chance to talk to, or students that don’t know who to give feedback to; so I submit the question to the public, is the Health 101 service something you’d like to see reinstated in the following school year, or is it something that you’d rather not see your funds go toward? Or, if it is something you’d like funded, how can the subject matter be better delivered? Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or pull me aside if you see me around campus, I’d be more than happy to discuss any prevalent issues on campus.
