Chadron State updates payment policy

To become in sync with the other state colleges—Peru State and Wayne State—Chadron State’s payment policy will be updated beginning the Spring 2016 semester.

According to press release from CSC College Relations, students will be withdrawn from classes, removed from housing, and meal plans will be canceled if students have an outstanding balance of more than $500 four weeks after payment is due.

The Spring 2016 semester begins on Jan. 11, 2016, so the cutoff date for the punishments is Feb. 22, 2016. The deadline for payments for regular and the first eight-week classes is Jan. 22, 2016, in the business office and Jan. 24, 2016, online. If a student has a balance of more than $150 on April 15, 2016, students will not be able to enroll in future terms.

Before the revisions were made, students were charged a late fee and couldn’t register for classes; students weren’t dropped from classes.

Kari Gaswick, student financials comptroller in the business office, said the policy shouldn’t affect those with loans as long as financial aid communicates with the business office.
