CSC students were able to relieve their stress through playing with PlayDoh at 6 p.m., Monday, in the Gold Room during the PlayD’off your Stress event.

Students were able to learn about different ways of relieving stress

“It’s a nice relief to get out and play with PlayDoh, it is definitively different,” Rachel Dowling, 19, sophomore of Hampton, said. “It’s something that I haven’t seen before, so it’s interesting to learn about different ways of relieving stress around the world. It’s an educational way to see how different people do it.”

Some information provided on ways to relieve stress included “taking a time-out, eating well balanced meals, limiting alcohol and caffeine, getting enough sleep, exercise daily,” but also to learn ways from different cultures. For example in Sweden, they head to cafés with friends to drink and eat; the Indians practice “yoga laughter;” in South America, they drink Matè an herbal hot drink; and finally in China, they practice meditation.

“It’s a simple program where you do it at your pace and everybody is super stressed because finals are three weeks away,” Yadira Gurrola, 21, senior of Scottsbluff, said.

Students were able to practice meditation as well as drink tea and eat food. They were allowed to keep the PlayDoh after the event.

“It’s a nice way to relieve stress from college,” Jessica Orose, 21, senior of Piedmont, South Dakota, said. “It’s a unique program. It’s also a good way to keep it and then we can use it on a later date when we need stress relief.”

Prizes were given out every 10 minutes including tabletop billiards, air hockey, foods, movies, blanket, and detergent.
