2 wrestlers grab national rank
Terrance McKinney, sophomore of Spokane, Washington, and Caleb Copeland, junior of Bennett, Colorado, are now ranked by the NCAA D-II Wrestling Coaches Association.
McKinney, is ranked second in the 149-pound weight class and Copeland is eighth in the 174-pound class. McKinney is also projected to win Super Region 4 by the regional coaches. He has only two losses on the season and earned the gold medal in the Elite division of the Cowboy Open. Copeland was picked to finish second in the region, behind Austin Harris, of Western State. His record is 7-5, but only one loss is to a D-II opponent.
Among McKinney and Copeland, four other Eagle wrestlers were picked to finish in the top six of Super Region 4. Junior Taylor Summers, of Plymouth, 133, has a 7-2 record and is picked to finish third in his class. Chance Helmick, sophomore of Beatrice, is ranked fourth at 165-pounds and has a record of 11-4.
Freshman Shane Rodenburg, of Kent City, Michigan, grabbed the fifth spot at 184-pounds. Rodenburg won the amateur division of the Cowboy Open and placed sixth at the UNK Holiday Inn Open.
Jacob Anderson, junior of Central City, is projected to finish sixth at 157-pounds. Last season, Anderson competed at 149-pounds and won 21 matches.
