Senate swears in new VP of Finance

Senator At Large Gavan Archibald was sworn in as the new Student Senate Vice President of Finance. Senators Nathaniel Brown, Teryn Blessin, Tate Jensen, and Archibald all expressed interest and were nominated for the position.

Since Archibald was sworn in as the vice president of finance, an at large senator position is open. If interested, contact Senate President Katrina Hurley.

Student Senate has $75,210.50 in unallocated funds.

Senator Syerra Wycoff-Bagshaw said her constituents have talked to her about Dining Services being closed during breaks. She recommended either talking to the cafeteria about opening during breaks or getting a food drive for students that do not leave campus during breaks. Hurley said she is working with Abby Lane, a worker at one of the food banks in town, on having the food bank in town bring some of their food to campus during breaks so students have meals.

The Activity Fee Board presented their suggested bylaw changes to Senate. The changes will be voted on at the next meeting.

Senator Chelsea Holt expressed issues with one particular change that says if clubs fundraise they have to return the seed money they initially received from Senate. It also says that if you make a loss, you don’t have to return the seed money to Senate. Faculty Adviser Mathew Brust said this is the first time AFB has allowed any fundraising from clubs so there are limitations.

CAB’s Vice Chair of Finance Molly O’Connell explained money has to be returned to avoid issues with taxes, unless clubs want to go through all the appropriate tax forms.
