Reuwsaat qualifies for nationals

Eleven winners, one NCAA D-II National Indoor Meet Qualification, and one broken personal best summarizes the CSC Track team’s performance at the Yellow Jackets’ Holiday Open.
The CSC women had eight first place winners in Saturday’s Meet in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Junior sprinter and long jumper of Rapid City, South Dakota, Stachia Reuwsaat, took first in both the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.67 seconds and the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 11 inches.
Another of the standouts for the women’s team was Angelique Urenda, junior of Pueblo, Colorado, who took first and broke her personal best in the pole vault by four inches with a height of 11-5 1/2.
The women’s 4×400 relay team won in 4:06.11.
The other CSC women who took first are senior sprinter of Kingston, Jamaica, Tiffany Thomas, in the 400 with a time of 57.71; Kelsy Wood, sophomore of Hemingford, in the 60 meter hurdles time of 9.09; redshirt freshman Michelle Carbajal, of Gypsum, Colorado, in the triple jump with a distance of 36-3/4; and Kenzie May, sophomore jumper of Indianola, whose high jump of 5-4 1/4, won the event.
The men’s team also did well and had three first place finishers.
Both Barrett Browne, senior jumper of Sidney, and Greg Rodriguez, senior of Del Rio, Texas, were forced to redshirt last season due to injury but were able to win their events. Browne took first in the long jump with a distance of 21-11 1/4. Rodriguez won the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.34.
Senior sprinter Martin Moriel, of Phoenix, also took first in the 400 with a time of 50.13.
The CSC track team’s next competition will be at the Colorado School of Mines on Dec. 11-12.
