Nicky Banzhaf, junior of Chadron, was selected as the Academic Runner of the Year. According to the RMAC Sports website, to be considered for the Runner of the Year, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and must be active at his or her current school for at least two consecutive semesters.

The Chadron State track team sent 15 athletes to Colorado School of Mines, Golden, this weekend to compete in the annual CSM Alumni Open. Long jumpers Damarcus Simpson, sophomore of Lafayette, Georgia, and Stachia Reuwsaat, junior of Rapid City, South Dakota, won their events and hit automatic NCAA qualifying marks for the National Indoor Track and Field Championships in March, and were named as RMAC Indoor Field Athletes of the Week.
